Polyphonic Rintones for your cellphone

What are polyphonic ringtones

The cell phone is ringing and somehow it sounds pretty nice. Almost like a real piece of music. What kind of ring tone is it? In the most cases it is a so called polyphonic ring tone.

But what is that supposed to mean? Polyphonic means something like several tones. The more tones the ring tone has the better it sounds and with a lot of voices it sounds almost like a real composition. There are different formats for polyphonic ring tones. Cell phones of the later generations can normally play all of them. For polyphonic ring tones the following formats are usual: mp3, midi, real tones, and smaf (mostly in use for Samsung cell phones.

Some ring tones are already integrated in the cell phones when they leave the factory. Others can be downloaded from different providers. These services are in general chargeable. By now the range of available polyphonic ring tones is huge. From single sounds, up to one’s preferred piece of music – there should be a ring tone available for every taste.
