How do MMS greeting cards work?

To send conventional greeting card by post is out. Instead of this, they are sent by MMS. So, what is MMS?

The MMS (Multimedia Messaging Service) is an advancement of the SMS. The difference is that the number of characters is almost unlimited and that graphical material or audio contents can be sent by MMS.

Thus, the vacationer doesn’t send postcards home anymore, but just takes a photo of the beautiful landscape. To this it adds a written or a vocal message and sends it home as simple as one was sending an SMS home once. For this there is just a MMS compatible cell phone necessary.

Then a MMS centre adjusts the messages and pictures so that they can be received by every cell. It is not necessary that the receiver of the MMS owns a MMS compatible cell phone. In the case his cell is not equipped for receiving MMS he receives a SMS which informs him about the receipt of the MMS. Then he can retrieve his MMS from a certain page in the internet.

Even people whose cell phone is not equipped with a digital camera can send MMS. All MMS cell phones have stored pictures for the purpose to send them as a MMS.
